ok Steve, you are a Gold member so can use chat,

if you want to give me 10 mins, and it will prob take you that to DL Ubuntu 12.04, burn the .iso , and do a live boot of it,

I'll talk you through how to put it on your system properly,

and , I am a total numpty on PCs, and I have one PC running XP 30G, Ubuntu 15G [with a 20G /home], CentOS 15G and /media 800G,

Steps - Now he's got it working I'm banned from his room, we have loaded the 12.04.1 LTS 64 Bit version.

It seems ok and he now has the grab option at boot to select W7 or Ubuntu.

Thanks for the offer though, maybe by tomorrow he will decided to change things.

steve, it really is so very easy to have a seperate /media (or whatever you want to call it) partition on there,

as I said, Im totally not computer savvy, but Ubuntu is soooo easy once you get it right, and done once then its a piece of cake.
