Can't be much help I don't think but here are my thoughts....

1/

Did you have any signed contract agreeing what was going to be installed?

2/

Had the customer seen any images off this particular kit before you installed it?

e.g.

2a) connect a few bits up before fixing anything to the walls?

2b) know someone else with the same kit installed at their home?

3/

Clarity of an image is a bit subjective due to the individuals eyesight!

4/

You need to know the answer to a basic question..

Ask the customer if they are willing to keep the kit or do they want it removed?

4a) If removed you may just have to cut your losses, remove all the kit, patch any holes in the walls, apologies to the customer and walk away,

then see if you can sell it elsewhere?

4b) If they are willing to keep it maybe negotiate a new cost.. Cut your losses slightly less.. so just break even.

If you have a signed agreement you may be able to push for your cash..

but

TBH it may be that "4a" is best cuz if the kit is kept in it wont be "good advertising" if deep down the customer is not happy!

the pic was slightly pixelated due to fact they view through TV but when downloaded its spot on (not just saying so I was very impressed with these cameras!! lol)
That does not sound right at all.

How is it connected to the tv?

How is it pixelated? That normally means it's breaking up into lego blocks all over the screen. Is the kit actually faulty?

Even some of the old 'uns can try it on , you know , how poor is it , in your opinion ?
thought it was very good, would have them on my house

not very "pixelated" more broken up, connected to AV (not ideal but they know this), when downloaded to my laptop its very very good, the problem was width a vision then it was you couldnt make out details in the face at end of drive prob about 8-10 metres this changing of minds (changing of compliants) makes me think there trying it on or changed there mind when it wasnt TV quality

what is the output from the dvr...vga/bnc? if vga is available you could pick up a cheap pc flatscreen monitor instead of going through the tv.

Sound like your problem is, they are comparing it with a TV picture..

its got both, think theyve been watching too much CSI a camera cant focus on various parts at the same time, thats how they want it so can flick over at night to view outside, i did ask my security installer friend he thinks the set up is fit for purpose

hence my Q's 1,2 & 4?

need to know exactly what the customer is expecting....

They may NOT even want another screen as well as the TV! :(

TBH I'd get hold of a PC monitor and hook it up to that in their house...

Then you can give them the option of upgrading to another NEW monitor or leaving it as it is, but understanding that they'll have a compromised picture

this was explained as i downloaded images as part of demo after install

Any answers to above ?

They will help decide if best to cut losses or persue further...

You need to be very carefull of doing more and more trying to please them..

and just spending more time and materials that you will not recover the costs..

That's why I said "get hold" of a monitor instead of "buy" one,,,

I'd give them 3 options

Pay you for what was agreed

Monitor upgrade at extra cost

Rip it out and make good as best as you can at no cost

I see where you are comming from specs, I suppose it depends on how much proffit is in the job......thats another reason for not cutting to the bone on a quote just to get a job.

If it were me I'd go with showing a seperate screen & offer it at a fair but profitable price

waits for the "were not happy and are not paying and refuse access to property" :popcorn

I've had similar problems.

Its allways with clients who want a "cheap CCTV system", I explain to them they'l get what they pay for.

Then they don't understand why its "not as good as TV".

FFS do TV cameras look the same size as them domes out there?!!!

GS

This does remind me of a few instances in the past , " We want a socket but no mess" " OK I'll do it with a surface box just above the skirting " On completion :- "Oh its not flush like the others "

Back to the CCTV I'm not sure what to say , if you think its fit for the purpose , as most of the modern stuff is I may say, you may have to stand by your guns.

And in 50 years of Forumising I have never managed to pre-empt the mighty Specs before !!! RESULT !!!!

any chance of uploading a picture to me and ill take a look, if you want, email address [email protected]

also i paid 4 grand to setup our cctv, but i have used speed domes, statics, and now have over 12 cameras plus 4 going in the pond so have a complex and expensive system in operation.

just quoted for a CCTV system, tuns out parts cost more than their budget (using decent gear) I did check out cheap stuff, and could possibly meet spec, but bitter experience says don't bother, cos it will end up being a pain in the rear and costing lots of lost time and money. If I did cctv all day every day, it might have been worth the gamble, but I don't, and same as customers wanting cheap electrics, they have an idea based on quality gear they don't want to pay for. Just explain cheap near is Chinese and you can't expect too much from it - seems to work well with most people. Stand your ground (gently) and offer upgrades at additional cost, otherwise it will cost you time and money for their unreasonable expectations.
