What's your most unusual payment (not money)?

For todays job, I was given a front door, that will actually be going as the side door into the garage on my new house.

I knew they were tight up there, but didn't think they were that tight as to removing their front door rather than paying!!

You've got to hand it too them, they are hard, I mean it's winter for crying out loud.

This isn't me. But i know a fella who cut someones hedges and trees around their house and he was paid with an 05 Renault Megane. He is a 23 year old mechanic who would do anything for a £ but a brilliant lad. He also serviced someones car and they in turn refurbished his pool table.

I had payment in kind once off a rather attractive young lady, then again it did get a bit awkward when her husband walked in! That said, many years ago when I was young and ruthless, I was asked to do some work for an older woman. I told her I charged £50 a day and she said fine,I said it would take 5 days and she was happy with that, well about the 3rd day as I was tidying up to leave she asked me to wait while she went to the local shop, I did and she returned with a bottle of Vodka and a Pizza, we had a drink and the Pizza and then we ended up in bed! Anyway to cut a long story short I ended up there for 10 days, when I finished she asked what I owed her and I told her £500, she looked at me and smiled, "is that all?, that's very reasonable, I'll recommend you to all my friends" .The lads down the pub couldn't believe I'd been so hard faced. lol

Well  that totally trumps the copy of Watchtower I was given the other week!

Do you get much mail delivered to your garage :)
Not yet. But I will.

The new house we are building will be near to passive house standard, extremely well insulated, airtight and heat recovery ventilation.  we don't want to be spoiling that by making big holes in it for things like letterboxes, so we were going to have a box on a post outside. But now the garage door has a letterbox, that's where the postie will be directed to.

Like your thinking, good one.
