I've just put the feelers out on my Capri forum as we have a large Scotch contingent. What's it on? Van? You working up there or with the family in the car etc?

Bloody hell Andy you pick your times to break down. Sorry can't help you on that one.
unfortunately its not me - a mate borrowed my car and its my car thats broke!

at this rate, got one last thing to try, then im going there myself in another car

If you have breakdown recovery, will they not recover your car to it's destination (i.e. you home)??
no breakdown recovery. normally it doesnt go far, and if it does its usually me and i would be able to do something with it enough to get it going. but its not me driving it, and its approx 260 miles away

its gong to be a long night / callout...

Have you got a break bleed kit? If so the pipe is designed to fit the pipe, you may be able to slide it over and jubilee clip it up? Not perfect but with careful driving may do the job?

Would it not be better to take it too a halfords branch tomorrow, don't some of them open for repairs on a Sunday?

Lucky its a bank holiday you have tomorrow to recover unless you are working of course. I am working tomorrow doing a second fix on a kitchen.

early night tonight and i could easily go to work tomorrow if needed

long distance trips like that is nothing unusual for me (although its usually paid work!)
