Haven't come across many 3Kw toasters.

Not required, a double socket itself is only rated for 20 Amps TOTAL load by most makers.Bs 7671 Appendix on standard circuits shows a 2.5mm Ring Final circuit with 2.5mm UNFUSED spur to ONE double socket as acceptable.

It is only permissible to supply a twin 13A socket from a ring protected by a 32A cpd because the theoretical maximum current that can be drawn is 26A - connecting such a cable with connectors rated at less than this value is not permitted.

Also, the fact that a twin socket may only rated at 20A does in no way limit the current that can be drawn from it. We should allow for the full 26A being drawn.

That probably is the downfall of twin 13 amp sockets customers don't know they are only rated at 13 amps in total.
