hello ,

I am making a new website for our local community >>> how can i make it viewable through google.

thank you

to get on google takes some time.

SEO though as mentioned, do a lot of research into this.

Also Register within the google business directory. (every one can do this even without a web site)

Use google web master tools

Clickity click

and analytics

also register with other search engines

Bing

Yahoo

Create a site map

See here

Your link needs to be seen around the web also, the more ure link is seen the better, but web site crawlers will know when ure spamming ure link.

Good content on your site also, make sure its good content, well written, and plenty of key words for google and other search engines to see.

Meta Tags - Some say these are not used now, but they are to some extent.

Have tags for Description of pages and key words.

Alt Tags, Always use alt tags, Google loves these!

Carp code, full of junk, Your html code wants to be nice and clean, with no junk in it that programmes seem to like putting in. Frontpage is a pain the arris for it.

Dreamweaver is not too bad, but still puts some carp in there.

hope this helps :)

Along with the advice above,

I was told

to repeat the keywords that you want to be searched for through the page,, bold your keywords, use links in your test to your other pages.

that 450 words is a good amount for your home page

and that your H1 tag should be top left and the text repeated bottom right on the page

You can upload your website free of charge to the Google search engineat the following website.

http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl

it takes a couple of weeks to show up
Instead of this use google web master tools, much quicker, and much more use. Just adding ure URL doesnt always work.

With the web master tools you can see what is happening, how many pages google sees, what key words, there relevance etc

The key to getting good placement on Google is content and inbound links. OK, you can submit the URL, use webmaster tools etc, but content and inbound links are the key. Getting listed on Google is easy - getting a GOOD listing is another matter. Google are genuinely interested in listing good quality, relevant pages at the top of a search, and all of the tricks to get better listings they know about - and avoid.

Make the site informative, and one people will want to view, and come back to. Also, it's important that the site works technically, and is easy to navigate. The links have to work, and be valid. Try and resist flashy navigation, as if Google can't navigate the site they give up. Stick to the site topic (IE don't go rambling off towards something unrelated), write stuff people want to read and get others to link to your pages. Put up pages of interest to the visitors, and keep adding good content on a regular basis. My site (unrelated to electrics) has been on the top page of Google for some years now, and I'm HOPELESS at SEO - search engine optimisation. If there is a wrong way to do it, I've done it and STILL get to keep on top because of content.
