If he still refusees to pay after the aloocated time, an aluminium baseball bat can be very persuasive!

Same here . No one does you any favours at the MOT station do they?
That depends on the garage.

I would be VERY peed off if I went back to find my car had failed on a blown headlight bulb and the garage said "when would you like to book it in for repair" they would not get my repeat business. I would expect a new bulb to be fitted and a nominal charge for the work.

But perhaps that's why I NEVER leave my car for an MOT, I make sure I'm always present for such eventualities.

Mine`s just had its MOT this morning. Tail light bulb gone.

The car was returned to the driveway, with a new bulb, and a clean MOT cert - plus the bill for the MOT.

I haven`t been charged for the bulb............Nice garage :)

(it does help that they`re "next door", and they don`t hesitate to call me if they have a problem ;) )

Alpha as previously stated he asked for an EICR which you have carried out and you have found faults C1/C2 which is an un-satisfactory report.

You type it up and give him the cert and invoice him for your work (by the way

if you are a Napit Member you could always ring there Legal team for advice

you wont have to go back,

cos his uncle will just copy your cert and omit the faults, and change the readings to satisfactory ones, :D

you have no reason to go back unless he employs your services again, you have completed your job.

why do you think you would have to go back?

He said on phone I was to retest it all and reissue cert but not too bothered really if I don't

If the cheque turns up, then that's the end of it. Don't beat yourself up that you didn't get to do the remedial work, and the fact he hasn't got a satisfactory certificate is not your problem.

I hope I'm wrong, but "cheque in the post" is the oldest trick in the book for a non payer just wanting to get you off his back for a bit.

I only have one person that pays me by cheque anymore,, something to do with it having to be authourised by at least 2 directors so its simpler for them to pay their subbies this way,

still, invoice on Monday, cheque on the mat on Friday,

most people do a bank Tx these days to me, I like it, one guy actually had me paid between me e.mailing him the invoice and logging on to internet banking ! :D

I did a solar job last week, electrical side, subbing to a lancashire company. Met the guy for the first time at the job at 8.30, he showed me round and the cheque was in my hand before the tools were even out of the van by 8.35
