Evening all.

Just wondering what make CU people are using at the moment?

Also, what price are you paying!?

Last year I was using Square D and Hager. Stopped using Square D as I had a job fitting them on CU replacements due to their size. Hager seemed very good fair play but not the cheapest.

Stopped using Hager when Screwfix had a good deal on Wylex. (

It depends on the job to be honest, I do very little domestic so commercial single phase is usually wylex or crabtree for single phase, merlin gerin for 3ph or I have used crabtree 3ph. To keep costs down on some jobs I have used stacked Proteus boards from CEF.

Looks like a good question for a poll?

Theres an echo in hear. I tend to use MK as I generally fit RCBO's, have used Hager but RCBO's are a bit dear. Did use a few Denmans basic RCBO consumer units but not convinced the quality is there. Don't tend to use much Wylex now after the bad MCB business. I like Contactum but there boards are no good for RCBO's. So all in all itS mainly MK.

I've been using a lot of CPN / CHINT / MCG recently... decent enough at the price although you can have a bit of a time fitting the lid..

People say they are a bit pants because they have a plastic din rail, but I fitted a Sq'd Domae the other week and that was a real pain in the rear with it's flexible internal leads and it also had a plastic din rail... hopefully you only fit an MCB or RCD once so to me that is a non issue - reliability, internal space and ease of fitting is more important IMHO

I do like the Starbreaker boards, but I have been known to fit Proteus

Depends on price. If there's any special offers on i'll go for them. Not fussed on any particular make. Over the last year i've installed Hager, Wylex, Volex, Contactum and MK. No issues with any. The MK is probably my least favourite. I do like the Contactum - good build, switches very precise and smart design. Good prices and delivery from TLC too.

Denmans basic RCBO consumer units.

means that i can offer full discrimination of circuits to the client, for not alot more money than a split load.

which I find they like

Cheers lads.

Id carry on using Hager if the price was right. A few have mentioned these. Prices?

Agree what was said about Contactum, all good but as tight as a ducks ar5e when it comes to fitting RCBO's.

Remember fitting a load of the Square D Quickline's a few years ago before the 17th. They seemed good, quick to install, solid, and looked good. I find the more recent dual RCD verions (domae) too big, also it takes time to put them together!

MK seems a bit steep.

Proteus seem cheap, but have heard some bad stories.....

GS

I have just fitted a Square D today, main 60947-3 isolator , and rcbo for single new circuit installed. The building is in need of a rewire but client unable to afford in one go so fitted a board that can be used for additional circuits when he gets around to doing it.

(yes I did work on a sunday).

if its a cheapish job I use my stock of Moeller boards i bought last year for just over a fiver. I get RCBOs for them for about

Hager most of the time. Fully loaded 10 way split with own choice of MCB's for

Contactum are my favourite - fly the flag and all that.

And the coloured dollies make the board look quite pretty. :p

I fit whatever is cheap at the time. Often Wylex / Volex / Marbo (all identical except the name printed on them) or recently ProElec from CPC.

I quite like the ProElec ones, particularly the prices, MCB's

Fitting a wylex tomorrow. I've looked at those CED CU's Has anyone fitted them ?

Yeah been using hager for over a year now found these to be the best boards to fit out of most boards ive fitted, now and again use steeple if keeping costs down.
