been on a job, customer wanted the water bonding,so i have a look and its a plastic main water pipe a 4" section of copper then goes off to feed the house in plastic! the rest of the house is copper tho.

What is the point?

Tis a differcult one. I am doing a new house at present all pipework is plastic except for in airing cupboard so I have run 10mm to there but may not connect it. Gas pipes are copper so have run 10mm to meter box.

Exactly, in these situations (one cannot visualise the full extent of Dan's installation).

But if it is a mixture of all sorts (plastic/copper throughout) and incoming in plastic, then perhaps best left unbonded, but this is my boy's view.

Can't rely on the water for continuity Badge !!
As I recall a run of 500mm in plastic with plain water or 900mm with inhibitor and the reg say no continuity

This was or is a common practice with builders (new builds), in order to comply with the water bonding they connected a small length of copper pipe to clamp to, then continued with plastic.

I personally would bond the water in this instance, but if it was all plastic I would not.

Hopefully the future builds will continue in plastic only, removing the requirement to bond.

I wouldnt bond.

according to EAWR(I stand/or sit, to be corrected) water is NOT considered to be a good conductor for the purposes of electrical safety earthing measures.
