hey guys , looking to buy a new pat tester , any suggestions on best one to get , with respect to value for money and quality of machine , etc .

We need more details, how much PAT testing do you expect to do ?

Is it going to be one day a month or do you intend to do it every day?

Makes a big difference on what to buy

Megger Pat4/DVF3 is a good one, I think there is a newer version of it out now?

The only problem I have found is getting the data off the machine onto computer. The software is Powersuite professional, the helpline people are good, but you only get about 2/3 months help when you first buy the software, which to me is a bit of a rip off. You then are expected to pay about

Will only be doing minimum testing to start but hoping to make it a large part of my business , so a decent , reliable with built in computer would be a must , any ideas ?

If you intend to grow into the business then a tester with on board memory would be preferable, I would suggest any of the 3 premium brands, Fluke, Megger or Seaward.

The Seaward Kits a good value with us at the moment as each unit carrys a free calibration.

It is an area full of options and if you would like to call me on 01603 406148 i will try to help out, you can of course visit us at Electrical Test Equipment - ISSWWW or click the link on the forum home page.
