I do light therapy with 1500 watt incandences. That is five 300 watt bulbs. I'm worried in a apartment if I will pull the breaker and what is a safe amount?
will I pull the breaker at 1500 watts in a apartment

1500W÷230V=6.5A so if connected to an already loaded lighting circuit it will take out the 6A breaker but only after some time.
If it's got a plug on it It should be okay.

Hi there, that is nothing, about the power of a small electric fan heater, or about half the power of an electric kettle..
You will have no problems, but you are better off asking on a canadian forum... The UK is a LOT different..

Would there not be a bit of a flash when you opened and closed the things?? Where was this?? Looks like the days before health and safety obsessions.. I suppose it was obvious to an *****, do not touch the copper bits!!

I lived in Scarborough and Brantford, Ontario for 12 years, but that was a long time ago.
If you are plugging into a socket, it is probably wired in 14/2 AWG with a current rating of 25A.
If it is a lighting circuit (can't imagine it is) , then it will probably be 16/2 AWG, with a rating of 18A.
Either way, you could go to a larger breaker, since it is there to protect the cable.
Go for the next available size above 12.5A, since you have no in-plug fuses, like we have in the UK 13A plug.
