Some youngsters talk through their asses  THB      did they wear all the NICEIC  clothing  , baseball caps , tool kits etc  by the way ?    'cos  they're the really qualified

 ones  don't you know.

There is another side  to this of course ,   I knew guys who were so well qualified they hardly ever worked as electricians after apprenticeships  because  basically they were OVER qualified .  Most were useless at practical electrical work  but moved on to design, consultants, project management etc

People like myself and a few others on here did a 6 year apprenticeship ,  I went "On the tools" just after England won the FIFA  World Cup  and then started learning  , still am .  Basic qualifications  , no NVQ  or AM2    .  Learning to do breakdowns  in drop stamping , press works , toolrooms , die sinking at 15yrs.       But  can the NVQ guys fix a saddle to a brick wall without using a masonary drill. ?

Two NVQ,ers in the wholesalers one day , discussing their problem of an earth wire on T/E lighting showing a voltage , lighting a neon , then fading out ...I suggested the earth wasn't connected all the way back to the board and it was an "induced"  voltage picked up from the lives .

They turned , looked at me ...saw an old phart who obviously knows sod all ,   doesn't wear an NICEIC Polo shirt ,  glanced at each other and turned away .

The manager looked at me , just shook his head .

Isn't it no other than Emma Clancy and her building regulation committee

I think you may be wrong my understanding is the NIC and NAPIT have been tasked by Ms Clancy with setting up a whole new rental ECIR scam

This "specialism" thing has become the plague of the electrical industry in the last 25 - 30 years all run by the course sellers. The only thing they don't sell is a course that produces properly qualified electricians that find the real faults instead of the consumer unit not meeting the latest regs. How long will it be before we see EICR's with C1's because there is no SPD or AFDD

Got to agree I fear it will go and be run the same way as the PAT / ISITEE companies have done for the last 10 years or more with appliance testing

That sounds like like the NICEIC's requirements for there scheme entry. My understanding is that the Landlord's Rental EICR scheme is a totally different entity with it's own requirements although needing an ECS card would be a good start but the fact that it would probably exclude so many short course operatives it will fall at the first hurdle

A bit meaningless without all the other tables and Appendix 1 might have been better to post a link to the info

I have no idea what relevance this has to my post

You have posted the last page of a consultation document which has since moved onto another committee headed by Ms Clancy who tasked the NIC and NAPIT to form another CPS specifically for the inspection and test of domestic rental properties

Yes I had seen that, seems to be a lot of silly panic over it.

we will see what eventually comes out in the wash, still waiting for Westminster.

I think the outcome is obvious , Emma Clancy was "parachuted" in to the committee to "protect" the interests of the CPS's. Her exit from Certsure / NICEIC was never explained and she has never made a comment on the subject - so I would venture to suggest that this assumption is correct.

The NICEIC and Napit "write" the rules for the committee, but they are never mentioned

The trade get to carry more overheads and the jobs for the boys gravy train continues.

those who don't lobby are likley to be disappointed with the result - lobby your local mp NOW or you will get stitched into another money making scam by the scam providers.  The so called industry reps do not represent us in reality, just their business interests.

And those who do lobby will also be disappointment - I emailed my MP weeks ago and he said he'd forwarded it - then NOTHING.

I think this has been a stitch up from the beginning (see my last comment!)

Same here ....don't know why I bothered in the first place .  Thats about four times he's deafed me out now.

As @binky says quite rightly that not acting isn’t in our interests, but so many people moan, but don’t do anything about it

So when the reg/ rules come out and refers to the 18th edition I will know they don’t know what they are doing, and ignored my communication
