Wood Augers Vs Auger Bits

What is the difference between wood augers and auger bits? Thanks.

In my experience?.....none!

All have a twist on them and a screw thread at the tip,so,they pull,themseves into the wood

Beware of cheap,ones as....they do not "pull in" and they are poor at clearing the chips
