Just stops the wet and yucky spiders getting in when it is not in use!!

I know the covers look like crap, but the one i had was great. Was for a 63A amp appliance inlet. The thing attached the same as a socket would, locking ring and all. You could have put the whole lot in a bucket of water and it would have been fine!! Well, the IP67 one would be!!

john..

Yeah but a caravan is quite a bit different than a work shop. I doubt the op will be unplugging and putting it in storage for the 11.5 months it rains in this country.

Are these flappy things IP rated?

this is what I actually intended,

http://www.worldofcamping.co.uk/mains-caravan-surface-inlet

first image I found

but,

you get the idea,

fitted loads of them, mostly proper IP rated, but, imo, these are good enough for temporary stuff,

not sure how I ended up with all the negative scoobs simply because some didnt understand the difference between a plug and a socket.....

Although I haven't actually checked or counted I suspect this is because a certain member tends to be very generous with the negative scoob button (more so than the positive scoob). It would appear that they interpret a negative scoob to stand for "I have never encountered what you are saying, I have never heard of it before, therefore it must be wrong because it is outside of my limited scope of experience". Whereas I think most other members general give a negative scoob to something that is either spam, against the forum T&C's or is clearly poor or dangerous advice that they can easily confirm and back up due to their wider prior experience and knowledge.  I also think other more knowledgeable members have correct the balance on your post.

I very much doubt that many caravans actually go into storage for 1 month let alone 11.5 months. If I look around our local neighborhood there aren't many roads that don't have one or more caravans parked on the drive or down the side of the property. Outdoors 365/24/7 is a normal environment for most caravans. Notwithstanding that a lot of "storage" is just an open yard or farmers field hardly undercover. It almost sounds as though you are suggesting that manufactures don't make caravan connections suitable for the environment, when it rains in this country you know.

They will be to the same IP rating as the other half of the plug /socket connection. Typically IP44, note the little rubber seal and springy self close flap.

^^^^^. Now that is more like it. Still not IP67 though I don't think.
I dont think it is actually rated,

but, as I said,

merely an example of what I intended,

btw,

I have something similar at the rear of my house feeding a D/skt inside a cupboard,  in case of a power cut I can plug my genny in and simply run an extension lead from the d/skt to whatever swmbo deems priority,

usually the boiler and some extension lights for the kids and bathroom.

Why don't you sort it out so we can de-scoob the de-scoob then Doc. I made a mistake for which I apologised to Steps for but due to the way the forum os set up I cannot take my de-scoob off of his post.

Who really cares about the scoobs anyway?

I think its mostly about newbies and DIYers about advice they can trust,

dont get me wrong,

lots of high post scoob members I dont agree with,

its a general mad internet thing,

tbh

who in their right mind would take life or death advice from an invisible anyone from the internet?

a nutjob?

:shakehead

Out of interest Doc. What are your qualifications and/or experience? I see you don't post your details in your profile.

Normally you can see who agreed and disagrees with you. Not here though. The scoobs are meaningless. I agree with you completely.

Well, err, it appears that at the very least you must care about them.....or why would you want to,remove the descoob

Did he ever say it was IP67?... Or am i missing something again?

Clearly you do, by the fact you use them.  Anyone who doesn't care about them is free to not use them. I think there are numerous members who are not too bothered about them and rarely give neg or pos scoobs.

Good point. I will never use this feature again. Thought you may of somehow defended them.

Just saying that Doc chastised me for de-scoobing someone. When I admitted I Was wrong I could not undo it. Sort of puts a hole in his argument. No he never. Just a conversation mate.

How does he know you de-scooped somebody?

Your observations are correct, it also shows that you can actually check some details before posting a comment. This would be very useful tip for you to apply to some of your other posts. Check your facts first before hijacking and spamming other members posts with your incorrect advice.

The mods/admin can see but keep that info to themselves.
