can't remember who makes them, they are a bit rare.

I've read about these before, but have never been able to locate one. Schneider market an isolator for vertical or horizontal mounting, but it's just a standard 2g vertical isolator they tell you can be turned on its side.

A quick search shows that Hagar do actually make a horizontal cooker isolator, but it's not sold in the UK. The sites I've found it on were all Australian.

think I might have used a grid switch last time I needed one

Who fitted that cooker isolation switch sideways ?

There are landscape versions available
Me! Why? Is it illegal? I couldn't find a 'landscape' one anywhere, and even ProDave has never seen one. I thought someone might say something about that. I think people can read ON OFF 'sideways'! and its an improvement over a socket behind the hob.
Any suggestions on a solution for moving/adding sockets that makes any real difference, without wrecking the tiles?

It's not an improvement aesthetics wise, and certainly not an improvement as to the location of the switch regarding ingress or heat.

it's not illegal, just looks odd. It's also perfectly legal to install a doube socket upside down, with modern moulded on plugs, and old sockets too close to the floor, it can make life a lot easier.
