I have a garage unit of Wylex make with 6A and 16A MCB's. This unit is on the recall list. The installation date is around about the problem period possibly later. Given that stuff can be on the shelves for months how can there be any certainty that the dates quoted will catch all potentially faulty units. There are codes on the back of the MCB where the DIN rail goes, If I am correct in presuming that these are batch codes why have these not been quoted in the recall notice? How can I identify if my unit is affected?

its the manufacturing date that was quoted. there is also a list of all batch numbers affected

and after a very quick look on google, here's the list

The Wylex MCB batch numbers for 6 A and 10 A are

RIRA
RTRA
RC RA
RHRA
RGRA
RERA
RARA
SRRA
SSRA

And 16 A

RIRA

RC RA

Thanks Andy spent about an hour searching web for info. Not convenient to look at the CU at moment so had alook in my spares box to see if any MCB's in there, However the numbering on them does not seem to follow the format you have quoted. I have 1 6A with a batch number B 19B6AW 2110ZHG and a 16A A01B16AW 4910ZHG. Which bit of the number is the relevant one? I suppose what I am reading as a zero could be an O which would then make it a 4 letter code on the end. Is this what I should be looking at? But then I have a C16 numbered J4C 16A 3508W which does not fall in line with the other codes. Perplexing to say the least.

the batch number is printed separately from the rest of the text, so different printing technique. iirc, its a 6 digit code, but only the last 4 need checked

is the MCB the old shape or new shape? new shape are not affected
