Evening all.

Just a quick question. Upon completion of installing storage heaters at a property can Zs be calculated rather than measured?

Cheers. J

Yes assuming you have R1+R2 but why no measuring (or did you forget :p )?

Thanks Ian. Whats the usual practice with testing storage heaters, when the bleeding things dont come on untill 11.30pm??

Do you connect the off peak board to permenant live of meter for testing purposes? J

I was going to measure R1+R2 once I have installed the heaters and add this to the Ze to obtain the Zs. I was unsure whether calculation would be ok as on my test sheets it says "Maximum measured earth fault loop impedance". Cheers J

you can lash in a supply to the board from the normal supply for the purpose of Zs and RCD testing.

I often make a temp connection to the main supply to test storage heaters or any other items that are on economy 7.

Calculation of Zs is recognised as a proven method, if this is not practical.
