Customer won't get work done to sign off consumer unit

hhmmm... dodgy! not really a proper TT though, was it bonded? i dont think thats ever been an acceptable practice. That does raise the further question, whats the R1+R2/ R2 reading for the lighting circuit? Does it have a cpc or not?

Customer won't get work done to sign off consumer unit

OP says a high ELI on the circuit, not lack of CPC. I take it this is a different lighting circuit to what you've been working on. How high is the EL? As stated early, you should have either done more thourough tests before quoting for a board change, or made the customer aware of possible...

help with a supply problem. TT split phase

steptoe you're confusing me mate! Perhaps I'm not being clear enough on the details. Ive measured 480 volts L1-L2 at the service head before the meter, managed to get a probe in to where L2 should be connected and to L1. the single phase meter is connected to L1. After the meter the supply...

help with a supply problem. TT split phase

my exact thoughts were also a meter mans mistake. He's also left a small amount of copper showing from neutral at bottom of meter. I'll put a photo of the meter box on tommorow, but theres a gap where the small plastic knockout from the second fuse has been removed, like there used to be a cable...

    Short circuit & downlights

you can get fire rated fittings that arn't so large. TBH i find those big fire rated ones a nightmare to fit into the ceiling, springs can be really tight and wreck a ceiling. whats above the kitchen?

    Need some advice

depends on where the 4mm run into the loft is installed, if its within 50mm of a surface of a wall then it will require 30mA RCD protection, but as stated, not a good idea to change the 100mA. Is the 100mA a time delayed RCD? If not you will not acheive discrimination between the garage RCD and...

is that with all conductors removed from the DB? tested with lamps in? sounds like it could be same fault- maybe picking up through lamps and possible borrowed neutral? what readings do you get between the up and down circuits, neutral in particular? If each circuit does have seperate faults...
