Just doing my bit and passing on some good karma! Seen a advert in the Homebuilding mag where you can win a building plot for

Part P and confusion from course provider

Good points. Everyone has to put food on the table, some do eat more than others though! As mentioned in earlier posts I'm not ready for quotes yet and to call anyone out would be a tad premature. I'm based in the north of england, south of Doncaster for future reference.

:slap :slap:slap Totally misread then misunderstood then the insecurity crept in........

Part P and confusion from course provider

I'll do that when the time comes. At the moment we're potentially a way off from getting quotes in and as I said in an earlier post I've been sort of pushed into making a decision due to the Part P course starting next week. Now I'm off that idea (again, read some of the previous posts) then...

Part P and confusion from course provider

In general then and hypothetically speaking, how many of you would either just plan the job so that someone (me) could do the job and have the LA sign off the work or plan, install the tricky bits, test the system but allow someone (again, me!) to labour for them (pulling cables, fitting boxes...

Have you been reading the posts or just skimming them? If you were reading then I've already gone through this so why keep bringing it up?

1 - 10 in the scale an scope of a jobbin' sparks. Regardless of prior experience I'm getting thoughts from you as individuals, not trying to make it complicated just YOUR thoughts. (I have a pilots license by the way but not to fly a 747 :) )

Part P and confusion from course provider

I think that maybe the best course of action would be to employ a sparks to design and test the system and me acting as his labourer. This way I'm getting the professional expertise at a slightly reduced rate but without all the headache of the standards or regulations. I feel that I may have...

Part P and confusion from course provider

I agree and I wouldn't expect anyone to price the work from the basic information I've provided. I agree, I would never employ someone without discussing the job fully. I haven't asked for anyone to provide me with a quotes just general electrical rules of thumbs to help me decide my best...

Part P and confusion from course provider

Would you say the City & Guilds the only route? I don't agree with the fact that some of these college courses are 1 day a week and can take 2 years! Maybe alright for school leavers but I couldn't do it that way. For that reason I have to consider what other ways there are that condense...

Part P and confusion from course provider

I know that asking question like I do seems to threaten people and I understand crowd/group mentality and the fear of speaking out against your peers. Thanks! Rather than tell me why I can't do something, which doesn't make want to push less (funny that) I'd find it satisfying, refreshing even...

What do comments like this imply? Why don't you ask me a straight question instead of judging me by your standards?

Part P and confusion from course provider

See, comments like this is the MAIN reason I'd prefer to learn and do it myself! Thanks for proving a point, I wondered when a jealous remark might surface. It still amazes me that some trades can't seem to price a job without seeing what you drive or how big your house is first. There's a...

Part P and confusion from course provider

I agree with both posts. Maybe I could arrange for a design and test quote, great idea. Since my last posts I've spoken to the LA who confused me somewhat. They said that they require a 'competent person' to carry out the work. He said I could do my own work but would need to apply for...

Part P and confusion from course provider

Thanks for the time you took in replying. I think some valid points. ------------------- My reasons and eventual motivation to learn whatever is required to complete this project is budget and not time (to do the job or to learn to do the job). The price estimations then become pretty...

Part P and confusion from course provider

I ask questions to get a better understanding of what course of action I'm willing or prepared to take. I don't just listen to one person, or even a group until I'm satisfied that I'M making the best choice. In this case your judgement is wrong.
