issue an eic for a db change, but clearly state it is only for the change of the db, and that the circuits were installed by another third party/were existing. O.

    two met's

hi Basically the original met was in db1 - with earth conductor and main bonds going there. Db2 is introduced. The earth conductor now goes to an external earth block. The earth block connects to each db. But the main bonds are still connected to db1 - and not the earth block which in theory is...

    two met's

all, you have an existing db where the met and main bonds terminate. You're then asked to fit an additional db, you split the tails and fit an earth block. Is it ok to leave the main bonds in the first db, because in theory you have moved the met to now be the earth block? O.

    Which is it?

I was looking at the physical fuse - not the carrier! It was made by lawson, rated at 100A. Marked with the ASTA logo. Had 1361 on it, and BS88 415V O.

    Which is it?

Was looking at a service cutout fuse the other day. Noticed the fuse was labelled as a BS1361 and BS88. :| So which is it? ?:| O.

    RCBO's on TT

All, Red book and OSG give max Zs for RCBO's, but what happens on a TT installation when Ze could be upto 200 ohm?? This would blow the max permitted Zs with the RCBO - or isn't it important as long as Zs/Ze is less than 200 ohm? O.

    Todays job

correct - if entering an enclosure via a metal plate that fully surrounds them. On commercial/industrial jobs i've used special plates/flanges which were designed to stop this happening - normally slit with a rubber joint. O.

    Crabtree RCBO pricing

Morning How much are your wonderful people paying for Crabtree SP RCBO's B/C ? My main crabtree wholeseller is after 24 quid - they claim they buy them for 20! I have seem them individually for 17 quid inc VAT and P&P on ebay (I tend to buy 10 at a time off there to get the cost even...

    RCBO Type

Let me rephrase.... So Zs's aren't important with an RCBO (aslong as it is below 1666 - but ideally 200)? Obvious the type determines the tripping characteristics, so could you get way with fitting a C, even though the Zs might not comply (because it's an RCBO) ? The reason to ask about the...

    Pat C&G 2377

Hi there, Glad I wasn't the only one who intially felted "under skilled" from just completing the C&G course - 2 hours of practical testing is no way near enough to send someone out to perform tests like these. The course should be changed! But give it time you will gain more experience...

    Construction blacklist

It is a very grey area...as I dont believe "blacklists" are illegal? The article is about the ICO prosecuting Ian Kerr as he breeched the DPA. I know several companies who use "consultancy" firms to obtain history on potential employees. As long as these "consultancy" companies comply with the...

    New Build School Wiring.

Hi, If they are 13A 230V sockets, then they are just the same as normal domestic ones. You just simply use one of the phases and the neutral from the 3 phase supply (actually you may want to use all 3 phases and neutral to balance the load). O.

    RCBO Type

the reason for the question is 2 fold: On a tt system the zs is too high for any breaker (normally) so to mitigate this you use an rcd - therefore is the type of rcbo relevant anymore? The second part. If the tt board is using rcd's and rcbo's does the main isolator need to be a time delayed...

    RCBO Type

In addition to the above... More I think about maybe you do still have to fit a TD incomer? Or will a simple switch isolator suffice if everything is RCBO'ed? O.

    RCBO Type

what happens if it is a tt system (high elfi) - when using rcbo's? You don't fit a td incomer, as everything is individually protected. O.

    RCBO Type

Hello again. What is everyone's opinion on whether the type (B,C) is important for domestic situations? Oracle.

I've been naughty.....and also nealry cried today!

Hi guys, The new CU only has two circuits - there is another CU will other light and power circuits on it. The client did not want RCBOs - so I was a bit limited :( Oracle.
