Can I test a new install without being registered.

Excellent, i love hearing about things like this. Got it done cheap, which will now probibly cost mroe then having soemone do it properly. The letting agent will just pay someone to do a PIR for £100 and charge your cousin £200. No one will ever read or understand any of the certificates anyway.

    Doctors strike

amazing how may proffesions could kill, from flipping burgers to being an electrician. I have worked in a couple private hospitals (as an electrician) and from what i have seen i would prefer to go NHS who are better regulated. The private hospitals are there to make money. There was a thing...

    Shower fan isolation switch

You dont have to have an isolator, As you are fitting a humidistat fan which will probibly start running for ages when you dont want it to, it would be worth fitting an isolator. personally i would just gor for a fan with a timer and no isolator.

Just split the bills 50/50 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would be mad if i was a tennant sharing bills with my family who use electric constantly. Just splitting the bill is very unfair. No access to the supplies for your own flat is awful. I think your tennant suits your standard of installation...

It means getting treated like poo for many years on building sites by racist, sexist old buggers who have the hump cos there misses is an old bag. Eventuly you...

    Ammendment 3 Consumer Units

all the fires in consumer units,  is there statistics on who did the bad work to cause the fire.  I would have thought the builder, kitchen fitter, alarm installer are all more likely to have caused the fire rather then a an electrician or domestic installer.

Gold Card Electrician 2394/2395 test in April

I would say no, just do the 2394/95. read GN3 inside out and memorise the section on periodic inspection. I thought you needed the 2394/95 to be a gold card electrician. do you not test the work you currently do?

I dont understand why so many people think Part-P is a failure. Before Part-P nearly everyone used to have a go at electrical work. Now i hear a lot of builders/plumbers/painters say 'i dont touch electrics cos of part-P' There are loads that dont care still, but i think it has made it a...
