I am Gold Card electrician currently revising for my 2394/95 in April. I haven't got a great deal of testing experience and think I may have jump the gun a bit by booking the exam. I didn't look into it enough beforehand and presumed it was more educational than examination.

Would someone please be kind enough to tell me if 2392 is worth the £695 and a week off work unpaid to give me a better chance In passing the 2394/95?

Thank you,

I would say no, just do the 2394/95. read GN3 inside out and memorise the section on periodic inspection.

I thought you needed the 2394/95 to be a gold card electrician. do you not test the work you currently do?

Thank you for your reply, Ive got the exam success 94/95 which is seeming a helpful guideline but mainly GN3.

My Gold card is titled Electrical Installer. I have my NVQ Lv3 and AM2. I have been self employed and qualified on the tools for about 3 years, And always wanted to complete my testing and inspection. We have testers on site(commercial) so we never test our own work. But I've been getting a lot of  private work (domestic) lately and keep having to pay a friend to test it. A lot of fuse board changes which I get paid to do and then losing money on the testing sides which 9/10 get remedials. Also have a few friends and also family who are estate agents which keep asking me if I have my NICEIC because they have a lot of tests they can pass on to me.

Have you/or know anyone that has done the 2392? They emphasise the fact there is a high fail rate and if you're feeling unprepared then to do the course as a stepping stone to main testing and inspection. I just really don't want it to be a waste of time and money.

Welcome,

You do not have a Gold Card I am afraid mate. A Gold Card would say 'Approved Electrician'.

I'm having trouble uploading a picture The colour of it is gold and says Installation Electrician. On the back

•completed Apprenticeship

•NVQ level 3

•17th edition

i know I'm not approved but I always presumed i was a gold card spark. Purely and simply because of the colour of it!

If you can show me and a way of uploading or sending it over iPhone then I will

The photo is too big in size. Slightly diagressed from what I was initially asking but thank you for your time. Much appreciated
