    CORGI question

Not sure. I mean we fix boilers but we dont actually touch the gas pipework do we, but does it constitute the boiler its self ? Where is the line drawn, its one of those 'how far do you go' things.

    ethernet card problems

Norton is crap. My old dear has it on her PC and it is as slow as a tired tortoise. Got free AVG on mine, no probs.

    just had a call out

Used to work on big gas burners for heating up paint shops, though this is a Chinese, the principal is similar. The airflow sensor is probably just a pressure switch, the idea being if the main fan fails for whatever reason, the air pressure drops then the heat source is cut off. My guess is...

    how busy are you????

Work is a bit quiet, done some crap jobs I normally would turn down, subbed out to other sparks. Got a few enquiries after Crimbo but not much. I do have other irons in the fire, but they are not red hot at the mo ! Same as everyone else I guess.

    Pet Gripes and Winges

Also , as we are expected to tighten the locknuts on SWA glands, why don't they make them thicker so your grips grip and don't keep slipping off. :_| Use a big spanner. 27mm I think the size is, I have one for that very job !

    isolators and motors

Knew my calcs were rough.....and as it turns out, way off. Found the black book and a motor with a full load current of 20A is 10KW or 13.5HP in old money. Sol is right about the starts per hour, what is this motor driving ?

    isolators and motors

When you buy a self contained starter, there is usually no overload with it, you buy the correct rated one for your job and fit it in the starter box Cant find my little black motors book, but with some VERY rough calcs, I recon your motor is about 5KW. To avoid switching motor currents with...

    Starter

Was just about to assist with this then read rest of posts. Would have suggested brooks or other self contained starter, fairly easy to wire up if follow the diagrams. Have worked with motors big and small for nearly 20 years ,built loads of star delta starters from bits before today, used to...

    Theiving T***s

Had two vans nicked over the years. One full of tools and stuff for a job, never seen again. The other turned up wedged through a shop window in Leeds, empty of course. Is there anything lower than stealing a mans means of making a living ? I have bought the odd thing or two of blokes in pubs...
