:) The post i was referring to was Bettys. He said run a 3 core and extra cpc. The 3 core would do it on it's own. :)

    Extractor fan switching

:) You could try the polar range switches. The switches are interchangable and are a fraction of the cost of grid. :) OOOps. Just read rest of posts. See you've cracked it.

    Wind turbine...help!!

:) You must speak to the local DNO engineer first off. The equipment used must be be approved before connection if being used as grid connected. He will also probably visit the site to witness commissioning of the equipment and operation / proving of correct protection. Different DNO'S have...

    CU recommendations

:) Your local DNO will have no interest in what you do after they have installed their switch. All they state is that the installation must comply to current IEE regs. Because your tails are over 3m in length it will be classed as a sub main so a fused isolator will have to be installed to...

    repossessions

:) You could advise him that should he be considering to rent the property out that a PIR would be in his own interest anyway. More local authorities are now insisting PIR's are done prior to any new tenants renting their properties. Covering their own bums if you ask me. Legally he should be...

    Whats a fuse box?

:) And the really scary thing is that meter has a seal on the terminal cover. Whoever connected that up to the meter would have worked for the local supply authority. :)

    How does a transformer work?

:) Don't forget that the transformer windings are also configured differently. The primary side on a pole mounted transformer is connected in Delta formation. The secondary side is normaly connected in star. This gives you the option of either single phase or three phase output.

U.S. - 3 Phase primary wiring on uitlity poles

    :D The generators in the U.S. also run faster than the U.K.s running at 3600rpm / 60hz . Uk gens run slower at 3000rpm / 50hz . :)

Shower near cu and main bonding

:D Sorry. deviating from the original questions. Q1. Fit main bonds on both gas and water. Q2. Install 17th edition board. This will help cover the whole house including the lighting for the shower room. :)

Shower near cu and main bonding

:) The example i gave on the push fit scenario was a few years ago. Supplementary bonding was essential at the time. Earth continuity tests between water pipes and the main earth were in excess of 400ohms . I have come across situations in the past where the earth impedence has been so high...

Shower near cu and main bonding

:) My take on it would still be to bond main gas and water. The 17th regs are still hazey on existing installations. You will find that although the main gas service will be poly pipe underground, it should be steel galv above ground. Gas should be bonded within 600mm of the meter. Have also...

    Greetings chaps.

:D Didn't think anyone would still be up. LOL. Been sparking now for 28 years. Was surfing the net looking for some 45a rcbo's for an MG multi 9 board. Google sent me here. Very interesting forum so looking forward to reading through old posts. Never too old to learn something new as they...
