My local garage owner has been given an antique battery radio. he rang me today and asked me if I was aware of such a thing as a 90v battery! he says (as I have not seen it yet) that there is a 90v and a 1.5v battery in this radio. He tells me that the 90v battery has expanded and is no use...

    RCD board - which end?

Hi, I will be installing a supply to a shed at the bottom of the garden for lights and sockets, the customer has already laid down 4mm SWA down the garden, but my question is, do I have a RCD board at the shed end, or the house end of the SWA? I understand that the logical answer is the house...

    2391?

Hi Springcrocus, I too had a steep learning process as a DIY electrician for a few years before attending qualification courses (2330,2381 and 2 X 2391 courses) however I was hustled onto a 2391 course whilst on my 2330 and didn't stand a chance. I completed the first 2391 but did not attempt...

    2391 (2007)resit?

I intend to contact college on this one but I thought I might also ask here: I completed a 2391 course in 2007. passed the practical and took the written in September of 2007. I got my results about Feb 2008...failed! so my question is, would I be able to take just the written part again? Dave

It is at the moment!!! :(

    What would you do?

My knee jerk reaction too! but as you so rightly point out money is money! However, if he wants me back on a self employment basis, will it be just for these 2 fixes ? If so, it won't be worth the outlay of insurance just for the two jobs! Monday morning will be interesting, when I ask him!

    What would you do?

Well, I have 1 week left of my notice, I then pick up my redundancy. I still have no job to go to, however, next week (5 days) I have 3 second fixes to do (take about 2 days), a first fix on a new kitchen (1-2 days) and a first fix for 4 new electric heaters (1-2 days). I am also entitled to a...

    Protection for tails

Thank you SL, I also followed this question up by contacting someone on a current 17th course and was told that it may be permissible to omit the protection as long as the tails are installed in trunking or have suitable mechanical protection. So the answer will be to see what the suppliers...
