Meter Readings and Billing - Active power or Apparent power ?

By Real Power would this be Active or Apparent power ? So many different names to add to the confusion.

Meter Readings and Billing - Active power or Apparent power ?

By ‘Actual’ power, did you mean Active or Apparent Power ? Both seem to be flavours of ‘Actual’ but vary in perspective.

Meter Readings and Billing - Active power or Apparent power ?

I ask so I will know which type of measurement it is and being billed against. I have an additional independent power measurement device with Current Transformers and Phase Voltage measurements across each phase that also has selectable config settings for either Active or Apparent Power...

Meter Readings and Billing - Active power or Apparent power ?

For a residential property are the Meter Readings and Billings based on Active or Apparent Power ? Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think Apparent Power includes the impact of Power Factor, so would read higher than Active Power ? BTW - my Smart Meter is an Aclara SGM1433-B 3 phase in a...

    What's your go-to downlight? - 2023

Yes, this has been my main concern as I also let out properties and have issues with the EICR’s if Fire Rated are not fitted where there is a habitable room above. Since having a few EICR problems relating to Downlights, I made my own rule only to refit fire rated Downlights. Also I find...

    What's your go-to downlight? - 2023

I want fire rated so to give better protection to the habitable rooms above.

    What's your go-to downlight? - 2023

Update of Jan 2022 for this year. I'm looking at replacing a load of GU10 non fire rated downlights and also installing a load more at my daughters house. I'm sceptical of Integrated LED Downlights and having to replace the whole unit rather than GU10 if they fail. Last year, this was most...

Residential 3ph Meter kWh Consumption - Active Power or Apparent Power ?

Hi there, I'm a bit confused. Does my residential 3ph Meter read: Active Power or Apparent Power for kWh Consumption BTW - my meter is an old ABB TYPE E43B3B-RH I cant find anything on that meter of the 'RH' variant. The meter is fitted in a Residential house on a Consumer Tariff, but billing...

    Tenant Safety Issue advice

Hi, I have a few let properties. In one of them the American tenants have layer an extension lead through from a bedroom to the bath end of an on-suite. This has then been used for mobile phone charging but also a hair drier. Whilst we in the U.K. have no electrical sockets in our bathrooms...

    SWA around Decking ?

Yes, I did find that some glands did not cross connect the earthing of the armour, so that will be fixed. At the moment it’s all isolated from the feed.

    SWA around Decking ?

You would struggle to get a spade in the gap unless it was running parallel rather than across the SWA. I think someone would need to try hard to have a go at the cable. The gap would be too narrow to get a screwdriver or hammer in to fix cable clips to the side of the decking bearers.

    SWA around Decking ?

It’s certainly on the gravel surface, but is physically protected / out the way by being between the fence gap and the Decking.

    SWA around Decking ?

Hi all, Any views on if existing SWA that feeds garden outdoor lighting sockets is a breach to EICR ? Its not a new install and was run around the deck when the deck was installed 8 years ago. I know the SWA in a garden does not need to be buried and equally, it should not be fixed to any...

EICR Question - Consumer Unit and Downlighters

When the cover is off, you can see its definitly not 'doctored'. The gap on the LH side is less than 1 full width of a Blank so perhaps the space is the half blank that you mention. I was assuming it would need a trimmed width Blank to fill that gap and that there should be no gabs left at all...

EICR Question - Consumer Unit and Downlighters

Thanks all for sharing views on coding. I’ll get the EICR done. One small think I did notice is that there is one blank open slot on the LH side with no blanking cover. I assume that needs to be filled for the EICR ? I have a pack of MK blanks but they don’t fit. The MK ones are for a thinner...

EICR Question - Consumer Unit and Downlighters

For the Consumer Unit, all the Sockets and Hot Tub are covered by the RCD. The non RCD circuits are all Lighting Circuits, Immersion Heaters (2), Smoke Alarms, House Alarm, and Cooker. Do you think any of those should have been covers by the RCD on such a 2001 build ? Many thanks,

EICR Question - Consumer Unit and Downlighters

We are planning to let out our 3 story house once we move. It’s a 2001 build and has had no changes to the Electrical fittings / Consumer units. We are planning an EICR and want to prepare in plenty of advance before we move out. The Consumer Unit (located in the garage under the master...
