Hi i am building a homenade incubator which will run

on 12 Volts.

What the layout is all 12v

1. Computer Fan

2. Thermostat.

3. Two 20 Watt bulbs.

What i would like to know is what ampage should i use

to run these 4 items from a 12v adapter

The thermostat manual says to use a 100ma

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the form Bison, Power = Volts x Current, So your two 20watt bulbs @ 12v will be 40/12=3.33amps. Not sure what your fan requires, but I doubt it would be much?

Thanks very much for the quick reply Doc

So with all 4 items wired up in sequence a 3.5 Amp adapter

would do is that ok

Thanks

i have a small computer size fan sitting on my desk - that is 0.15A. added to 3.33A of the lamps, thats pretty much 3.5A. and thats providing the thermostat doesnt require its own power (would be a very small amount). also running constantly near its full load rating, the PSU probably wont last long

So Andy what you are saying is that i could use

a higher amp adapter if so what is suggested
