Why do your turn it off at the red switch? Don’t you trust the switch / knob on the appliance.
Like shower isolators I consider these “big red switches” to be for maintenance purposes only.
Don’t know if the quality of these isolators have dropped like most things in recent years but recently I have changed quite a few shower pull cords not because of slack burnt connections like it used to be in previous years but more that they have mechanically gave up, I now advise people not to switch them off after every shower unless of course there is a good reason to.
@nicebutdim partly habit and also a slight distrust of the built in oven/hob controls after the control dial on the hob decided to literally start smoking randomly even though it was off at the dial

I don't think there is a good reason, but I also have a tendency to isolate appliances (that don't have a clock) and I think it stems from being inherently miserable. Don't want to pay an extra £2 per year for appliances on stand-by mode.
also a factor tbh

they definitely seem a lot less sturdy looking these days for sure
I remember when they literally made a decent volume click when you turned them off or on lol

Circular isolators from Click and Crabtree are all I trust now. Click double screw terminals are particularly good, but neither are much use when you're replacing an old isolator with no slack on the cables.
indeed
I defn need to replace the current one eventually tbh
It has a tendency to click on again when you switch it off

just I know the backbox threads are slight stripped so it'll be a pain
