Been to a property as seen the above...

4 9kw showers

3 8kw water heaters

3 say 30a max cookers

All on one supply

Supply Is TT

What do u all think of that. If they are all used at once then bang lol.

She has asked if another phase is required as she wants to add a Anex at the back again with a shower and a cooker lol she has stated that every thing has been ok for 10 years lol

No problem then ! Real life outwieghs theory every time !!

In 10 years they have never overloaded the main fuse .

However adding this annex could be the straw and camel scenario.

I've done quite a few houses divided into two flats , so on the face of it you tend to think everything is doubled, 2 x cookers , 2 x showers, 2 x immersion htrs etc all on a supply for one house but never had the main fuse go .

Diversity rules OK.

They obviously don't shower much then do they? how many in the house? Just because there are 4 showers, there might only be 2 of them.

That's what I mean. They have 3 kids all with there own shower. I have said that the Anex is best on its own supply but she not having it. She said we won't use the cooker and showers at the same time haha...

But I will stick to my guns and say a new supply is needed witch it is.

What's the most any of you have put on a single phase? Domestic

I have two 8.5KW showers. When they are both on, I've measured 80A on my tails (other small loads on at the same time)

We have 3 showers in the house, but the third is a thermostatic mixer from an unvented hot water tank (much better shower) I just didn't want to take the risk of all 3 getting used at once if all of them were electric.

Perhaps they need key switches on the showers with only 1 key, so they can't all be used at once :coat

I don't think the earthing arrangements TT,TNS,TNCS, has much relevance whatsoever to the maximum demand. But with regard to a single phase supply with a lot of high power final circuits, KME had a thread a long time back about a property with multiple electric showers. It may have been a bed & breakfast guest house or something, but I think he mentioned something about an arrangement using contactors preventing all showers being energiesd at the same time. Maybe when he's next on he could recap on the details.
