but the earth from the garage is live when disconnected from MET, nothing to do with the incoming earthYou need to test the Ze. Being a TNS it could be a poor incoming earth.

I did not read that. I read that he has tested between the garage earth and the MET and measured 50v.but the earth from the garage is live when disconnected from MET, nothing to do with the incoming earth
1652c has an input impedance of 3.3M Ohms, so not necessarily accurate!Fluke T110 initially then used a Fluke 1652c to get a accurate reading.
...
try reading & thinking about it a bit more then instead of jumping in with 'well it must be a dodgy PILC earth, test Ze'I did not read that. I read that he has tested between the garage earth and the MET and measured 50v.
I did not say that either. Are you ok in the headtry reading & thinking about it a bit more then instead of jumping in with 'well it must be a dodgy PILC earth, test Ze'

Exactly my thoughts. To be honest my first thought was "you did isolate the entire installation, didn't you?"
Same as Andy...
As one of the older Electricians on this forum, what is it about the younger ones that they feel they must argue or disagree about every detail when someone posts and then with each other.
I still find things I did'nt know after 44 years is this trade.
If I don't know something I welcome the advise.
Like how much is a pint of milk, because I have never been shopping in all the years I've been married

Wow! Really. We were installing lighting on a metal railway bridge and only got 60 votes leaking from the DCCR.I've had over 70V on a lighting circuit with a floating earth,,, so 50V isn't a problem
Yes 45p http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=251314158Can you even buy a pint of milk anymore?.
