i know what you mean steps have seen it. but it wouldn't show the voltage level to op.

and secondly it shouldn't work in theory but i know they do

mine will show both voltage and on what probe it is on, if you have 2 reference points, ie, N&E, it will show on what probe the voltage is present.

seriously how does it do that. it cant imo

well why cant it,?

it can show phase rotation with two points of contact too.

even my multimeter [an old Fluke 77] will show on what probe the AC potential is present.

maybe you should invest in a NEON ! :)

seriously.

yeah andy i have used a tong tester in past forget which and it does warble when only connecting to live.

but the theory is it cant such as you/me touching a live and nothing else we wouldn't know/feel anything

neon dont work unless circuit made ;)

p.s i know they do warble but its just wrong lol edit:(ah here is my error, yes i meant a dilog and other testers will warble with only one probe connected)

the phase rotation is kinda irrelevant here. all the tester needs to do is figure out which way the shortest peak voltage between the 2 is and give a direction.

not sure on the old fluke 77 being able to tell you which probe the AC voltage is present on though.

I really dont understand any of that, what is a tong tester?
a simply voltage tester

eh?have you ever used a neon?

you make the circuit.!
yes thats why i said what i said lol:slap

correct and the warble type do it with NO circuit

oh god lol

your warbling dilog will warble with NO circuit made . i.e just touching 1 probe to live the other probe no where

steps come on dam we all know what a neon tester is and how it works. geeeees

neonor

voltstick

I dunno , do we?

Ive never seen one that makes a noise before.

can you give me a link to one, I'd really be interested. seriously.
i never said a neon warbles . if it came across like it dam my keybooard skills must be bad.

slightly feeling your treating me like a beginner. sulk :)

i'm not clicking on those no way
why?

they do have a circuit
of course they do, basic priciples of electricity.
