A Little Stator At One Of My Suppliers Yesterday

They have much bigger stuff there, but I'm not supposed to take pics, that unit is about 5' dia.

Small for you, but huge for many!

Not one of mine.

They do some seriously big stuff.

Not sure if I can link to them, but they are a large international rewind type company, local to me.

Not mine!

Mine was a LOT smaller than that.

To big for me to handle and as it turns out too small for them to handle.

Bearings £2k, customer supplied, fitted to the spindle by me today.

Spindle front flange circa £500 smashed up by supplier.

Spindle itself damaged by supplier, cost £500 ish.

Locking nut damaged by supplier cost £100 ish.

So, around £1100 of damage for a simple job that was just too big to fit in my press.

So, perhaps, I should say ex-supplier!

Replacement unit rebuilt and in the back of the van for refitting tomorrow into my customers machine.

Taking a winger as I don't have all the info on the pre-load on the bearings.
