hi all not been on for a while

at work  they have started work doing automotive work  company who we doing the work for are asking for 1000 lux level

above inspection areas and assembly area

original fittings were 8ft twin fittings @ 6mtr  so what am thinking off is dropping to 3mtr with a 6ft hf twin fitting with polished aluminium

polished reflector with 865 day light tubes

or could anybody advise on any other type  of light units or had experience in this type of environment

thanks moose

Moose,

Why is your client specifying your work conditions?

After that, then there are a lot of things that can be done.

They should not really be poking their nose into your factory.

Trouble is I guess you need the work, else you would not have gone down this road.

Also, the work that is being done must have suitable lighting to be sufficient under statute law, so it could be that which they are quoting.

Modern high efficiency 5' HF twins with suitable reflectors will give you the same lighting as 8' twins, so dropping the height is a bonus.

Don't do the lighting design yourself, get your supplier to get in a manufacturers lighting engineer to do the design for you, go for 3, then pick the one you like and get 3 supply quotes on the fittings.

Else get a consultant in to sort the design etc. out for you, then go out to quote on that.

thanks for advise sidewinder  i was looking in to get a company in for rest off lighting remaining as for requirement  its what they are stipulating for work areas

on audits as a min 1000 lux at a mtr from the floor i even fitted 10watt led floods on work benches to give extra lighting  at 1mtr above the bench

Is this for "panel" inspection?

I'm guessing it is for BIW stuff?

Anyway, trust me mate, get it done by the suppliers, it is easier, I do it all the time, I am doing one now for a complete factory unit, it is easier, they do the calcs & stuff, I go out to earn money, simples! ;)
