Chaps,

Anyone know if you can get a decent digital reception with an indoor aerial (or one in a loft space?).

Not a fan of climbing on the roof and technically anything above the ridge requires permission as we are in a conservation area.

We seem to be in a good signal area.

I can get TV on the computer with a set top aerial!

I think you just need to buy a decent aerial and try it TBH,

if you are in a decent signal area then it should be ok,

Im pretty sure you can google that sort of stuff, then just go for an aerial a band (or 2 ) better than they say you need,

I think.

:C

should be alright i have fittted a couple in loft and they have been fine. you say your in a good signal area, also i hear cable quality makes a big difference

give this one a try mate. Labgear TV Aerial High-Gain Digital | Screwfix.com

like you say if it dont work out you could get some one to fit it on the roof.

i mounted an new arial on my roof not long back, not a pleasent experiance getting on the roof, worse getting off

the other thing is, could you put an aerial on a stand off bracket or cranked mast on the side/front/back of the building, wherever faces the mast best?

that way you wouldnt be above the roofline,.

my 'proper' aerial is actually on the bottom of the gable(where it was when I moved in) and picture is spot on, and Im only a normal/middle-ish reception area AFAIAA.

The obvious answer is buy one and try it.

Or enter your postcode here Digital UK - Home in the "when do I switch" box. Also tick the "I am in the aerial installation trade" box is it will give you a lot more information.

That will tell you how far you are from the nearest transmitter and the expected signal strengths.
