er, lurch, no the panels are no different and mine has all the same electronics as the relevent golf thanks :) the only thing mine is missing that a golf has is damped grab handles, big whoop.

what have you changed on the 1.9 or are you going to be happy with 160bhp?

my brother has a TD ibiza cupra with uprated clutch, single mass flywheel and a hybrid turbo. Being a cupra it came with quite a large front mounted intercooler anyway and is doing exhaust decat in a couple weeks, its making around 230bhp and 350lbft right now and goes quite well :)

my octavia(which should be working some, finally) is a 1.8T with large fmic, equal length tubular manifold, gt2860r + external wastegate, full 3" intake, 3" downpipe, decat, 2.75" exhaust, large port high flow inlet manifold and a few other things that i have probably forgotton and should be making around 330bhp when mapped. thats not the fun bit though, i already have a gt3071 sat ready for when my spare engine is rebuilt(currently being built with a standard long block) :D that should be far more interesting!

The panels are the same shape, but thinner. The electronics are the same units but VAG turn things off the further down the range you get, like VW don;t do a total closure option but you do on Audis so mine just has everything turned on, saves buying an Audi!

Nothing yet, mechanically it's all just the standard 6 speed sport. 170BHP and 300 lbft is where I'll wind it up to. Beyond that I need to look at whether I want to keep it and start changing the DMF etc... and stick some more go in it or just buy something else, depends what's about at the time. The VW should keep going for another few years yet though. ;)

That does sound like it's got some poke. In the passat the 1.8T will give about 235 after a remap and it just keeps going, I've never driven a car that just pulls all the way through the revs. I would have to stop using the car for work if I kept buying petrol turbo motors!

i take it you mate thought he had a 150cdti then?
Yep. ;) Think it's being replaced with a 3.0 V6 CDTi next though.

bengie you should just go with the gt30 the gt28 is poop we tried them years ago.

looked the business but was never right

i've got a gt3071 as the rebuild turbo, remember i am fitting the 28 to a standard block, the 30 would destroy it!

the spare engine is getting stroked and bored as far as it'll go(2.3 is the furthest people normally go but i want to see if i can overbore into the water jacket and sleeve it to go further), i have a large port head that'll get uprated/oversized valves then ported and polished to get the most out of it. the gt30 should be getting high 4's if not into the 5's with that lot as well as a more reasonable spool.

sorry lurch but without wanting to turn this into an arguement i have spent enough years on various car forums to know that 1.8T's with a K03 or K03s don't map to 235 on reliable rollers, not without destroying turbos anyway, the same goes for 170 from a PD130, mid 160's is about tops without blowing the turbo up.

and this is a spare manifold i have for when my spare engine is finally available and will be fitted to our ford focus that we use on track days.

10's and 10's and 10's of thousands of pounds worth sat there if they are all complete and working(or at least were), must be a reason for it.
Probley all ringers and the guy couldn`t get rid of em lol ROTFWL

I don;t care, not my car. ;)

Ah yes, the turbo, forgot about that. I wasn't in this for the factual correctness, no arguments started, I give in as I CBA to look at the info again ATM. ;)

lol, fair enough. you can destroy the dual mass flywheel on standard power, hell even the 90's and 105's can as its down to how you drive it more than what power you've got, if you use high gears at low speed(so low revs and high load) you'll break the flywheel quicker than high power and higher revs.

That would explain why people have been saying not drive it too economically. Not sure what to do with the car yet, once it's working I can either sell it or start swapping things and remapping it. All depends on what else is about when it's working, I don;t mind sticking the VNT17 on it and dropping the DMF out and whacking it in the skip, I may have lost interest in it by then if there's a newer, shinier thing sat waiting to be fixed. There's an RS4 that wants a new front end on that looks nice, from the back obviously.

Cars are costly!! Sick of getting 15mpg and 185bhp with 800kgs means my car is just pointless in any other weather than bone dry. Selling the mk1 this year for something newer and a bit more sensible. :(

come on children, you are fighting over pushcarts,

mine kicks out over 280BHP/litre

0-60 in under 3seconds
That I could beat quite easily.

and somewhere in the region of 15mpg. :(
That is why I haven;t, I'd never make any money. I'd have to charge

what part? what with?
All of it, with something with more of everything. ;) Not saying I've got anything that will at the moment, but it's not an unbeatable set of figures.

Ah, just noticed BHP/litre, that could take some beating.......... *sets off hunting*.....

i have a neck busting 700 cc, 70 mpg 35 pound a year tax smart car .. :) 0-60 never lol...
