I am the Multi Tool King

Fein 110

Fein 240

Coltech 240 to just throw in the qback of the van....The Feins are for special occasions

3. Coltech Battery ones.......one at home permanently with a sanding attachment on it, one in Van, one in Wheeled case

They have ALL been purchased when on silly offers that were TOO good to miss, so I didn't!

angle grinder would be best for horizontal joints but I can see a multitool giving better control with vertical joints, avoiding nicks in bricks above and below and getting the groove level, not concave.

I've used a mortar rake on an angle grinder:

Then use a mortar gun to get the new stuff in.

Have a search as there's also one with a dust take off. Got one somewhere...........

These are the best diamond blades I've found so far. From Saxton. I don't get blades from anywhere else now:

Just got some of the Saxton 65mm wood blades and they're great.

The 90mm diamond ones I got for widening a doorway in a Celcon wall. I did though try them on this concrete floor (for a temporary CH pipe run) and though it cut would have been too slow going so I did it with the wall chaser in the end. Was impressed though it didn't blunt the diamond blades:

It was indirectly thanks to ProDave that I got onto Saxton via the eBuild forum he put me onto.

Just a bu**er I can't get to an Aldi in the morning! Could do with a second.

If you use a mortar gun,

Make sure to use soft sand and almost a slurry,

That was how I done mine, and it turned out a lot better than I expected tbh,

Just a bit of trial and error to get the mix right, and if it's a hot day don't mix too much at once, oh, and add a bit of fairy liquid to the mix, it does help, a lot,   ;)

Plasticiser,  plasticiser,????

Bit posh that, my budget couldn't stretch that far,

Deke, scrounge some of the builder if you can, if not, steal Mrs Dekes fairy, almost as good, and you don't need a lot, don't use the cheapo stuff though, something decent.

Temporary plastic joint. Downstairs is an old single pipe CH system. Gutting the downstairs bathroom and I needed to bypass the room and this was the neatest option. As long as you walk in a straight line it's like the UFH that I haven't finished yet!

+1 on the soft sand wet mix. My mortar gun, a big 3" dia heavy duty black thing I thought was indestructible. Made the mistake of using a sharp sand dry'ish and split the cylinder of the gun. Now repaired with copious amounts of duct tape. Been looking for it for two evenings now and it's dawned I've lent it to someone...............can't remember who!
