hi,

can i just add that mainy every one on this forum are very helpfull and freindly, but then those who are not.

no one knows every thing about being a spark. and for those who know less than others, people seem to think they are above them. and should not b doing the job. every one asks questions if not we would not learn.

but some people on here seem to think they are in the wright all the time witch no good advice eg " did u do a 5 week course" now to some people they may find that offensive, as it was aimed at me i do not, if i do not know it i will ask. or will do my best to find out the correct answer,

will all those people please stop,, well "bullying" every one on here who askes question even if they are simple. it is not helpfull and brings people down

if u do not have good advice then y post????

again thanks to all the helpfull people

If you would care to read the forum then I think you'll find that these people you are complaining about are very good at helping many people in many areas.

You worry most trained electricians, fact. It's not bullying, it's genuine concern, you seem to take nothing in and read nothing that people write, and also get very defensive when people try and give you advice. OK, some of the advice isn;t worded in the best manner, but you still ignore it and take offence.

I'd take a step back and have a good look around before flinging accusations about.

ok well i think i will be not using thise forum any more cheers to u all,

No body know EVERYTHING you are right Electro , but also some are closed to the idea of accepting other people views and advice, one thing about this forum is due to the nature of the REGs different people interprit what they read differantly there is no right or no wrong (in alot of cases) it is also hard to explain things if not given all the information required to answer the question asked, frustrating I know.

I can guarantee if you placed 90% of the people on the forum in a house with a specific electrical problem that would take only a few hours to fix it would take inexcess of those few hours as most of the time would be spent discussing/arguing over the reasons but that is HUMAN NATURE, listen to the advice digest the advice then relate that advice to your own problem(the question you asked) the throw in your own answers stir it all up and I am sure you will end up with a safe outcome to the question.

My own views

EDITED DUE TO BAD SPELLING Blushing

Thats a shame you feel that way Electro - I have been using this forum since last August and found it invaluable. People are genuinely wanting to help those of us that have questions. We are all here to learn. We can learn a lot from each other. Yes some replies (5 week wonder) are a bit abrupt but not meant to cause offence I'm sure.

As Andy has said, stop using txt talk, and think about your posts a little bit and I'm sure you will find this a great place to be to both contribute to those asking and to find answers yourself too!

I think that this post was primarily aimed at myself,

and as I have been AWOL for a while it may well be justified.

as befits the question was simply an inquiry as to how much the OP knew.

yes, it is probably known that I am not a massive fan of "5week wonders" , but I am not adverse to helping someone with a limited knowledge either.

it does help however if I know the experience of the person I am dealing with.

no point telling a plumber he needs a type D 61009 for his new HVAC controls if he doesnt even know what type of earth he has.

offence was never intended, just a clarification as to the knowledge of the questioner.

Id spend all day changing it to TT while KME would spend 5mins on the phone telling the plumber to change all the water pipes in the garage to plastic. bad day explode

I think that this post was primarily aimed at myself,
could be aimed at a rather large number of people.....

...only the other week he was asking for us to find him regs in the big scary book (& a few other somewhat worrying questions for someone who was preparing for an assessment).... what was in that thread best not be repeated

As a ' five week wonder' myself i can fully understand the conserns of a fully qualified and time served spark, i can also understand why there may be some aminosity (is that the right spelling) towards people like me, how can it be possible to learn in 5 weeks what you gus did in 3 years, well, we dont, all i did was learn how to pass an exam, and, ok it did the job. but back to the point in hand.

i have had nothing but positive replys to all of the stupid questions i have asked in the past, and feel this place is invaluble to someone like me, who in later life wanted to do a job i enjoy, but could not afford to take 3 years to do it.

it's a shame you feel this way electro, i think you are making a mistake, you should try the darkside and you will see how nice this place is!

paul b, i have read your questions and answers to other peoples questions many times, and I can tell you have your head well screwed on. The way I feel about 5 week wonders is that its very hit and miss. Luckily for you (or your customers) you seem to be a hit, but there are those that think they've done the course and now they no it all, and try to blagg it when they don't.

When you do an apprenticeship, or time serve as a mate and go to college, you get a lot of experience. You also go the longer, tougher way round and you are forced to become a good spark, you don't have a choice otherwise your sacked. With 5 week wonders, its all down to yourself if you want to become a decent spark or not.

You've got your quals and now its upto you, if you would rather take the extra time, ask the right questions so you can sleep at night knowing people are safe or if you would rather guess and risk.

As above, 5 week wonders aren't by default useless, just part of a larger scale cock up.

Im unsure as to a reply now, but feel I need to, as Paul b himself says,

but this is obviously a person upon having a piece of paper has no hesitation in not knowing it all,

as i said many moons ago, I dont need to know everything, Aggie knows it for me. :D

seriously tho, this is the major difference, when someone is afraid to admit they are looking at something they have no idea what it is , never mind what it does, but they are sure they can find a way to fix it.......

its the old adage,

a little knowledge is more dangerous than being thick as a brick to start with

it takes a smart man to be stoopid,

but a stupid man to act smart.

Can't be aimed at me I don't answer questions from people that can't be bothered to write in proper english. Bad spelling is one thing but writing in goggldy **** is another.
papa lazurus

god knows how he copes tho, I have problems with one.

I treat posts the same as all the CVs I get sent, if you cant spell, form a sentence, or comunicate clearly then it's ignored. Why should I make the effort to struggle to understand someone who cant be bothered when it's they who want my help.

I agree!

Same with opening posts that only have half a dozen words or less!

:D

May as well click the ignor button then may spelling can be really bad
