Seen it a while ago, Al-Khalili is quite interesting, IIRC it is an "OU" programme, so almost certainly factually correct, as it will form part of one of their Undergraduate Courses.

Also worth a punt on I player or YouTube is a BBC programme called the secret life of the national grid I enjoyed watching that.

And if you have never seen it search on YouTube for the channel 4 series the secret life of machines with tim hunkin and Rex garrod I still have the original broadcast versions on VHS tape !

Batty, is that not Radio 4, think the shows are in reference to BBC 4 TV. Archers still running and Nooo, Not a listener lol

Be looking forward to the Faraday story :)

Jim Al-Khalili is one of the most fascinating broadcasters about.

I rank him with Simon Singh, writer of the the book on Fermat's

last theorem, itself worth a read if only for his incredible story on

modern mathematics and how it developed from Continuous maths

to Discontinuous maths, in brief, how calculus became useless in

solutions to problems on chaos theory.

I did know that it was my little joke wasted on the old forum. My grandparents didn't have a telly so there soap was the archers that is a long time ago though.

Not wasted, Batty, it's just that some of us old 'uns don't want to admit to remembering them.

BRIAN!

SL , the original Walter Gabriel , ( Ooooh Ar ! Me old pal , me old beauty ) came from your area, his grandson was an apprentice with the Stourbridge firm I once worked for .

So I'm told anyway , far too young for any of this . ; \
