It would appear that the Welsh Footballers are better than the Belgians.  And just for the record, not that I am a big football fan, but not all players at Euro 2016 are highly paid *$£*&**+!!  some are quite normal everyday people. Take the Iceland team who beat a certain bunch of puffed up premiership idiots!  From what I read the Iceland manager is a dentist when not doing national team football management, whereas our now resigned Mr R Hodgson was the highest paid manager at the tournament!  Crazy!!!!!  (well done Wales, good luck in the semi finals!).  Why is it that so many industries are able to operate performance related pay, but football cannot cope with the concept?

The scale of it all got me, how many people they employed and how many people that would have got sucked into the machines without all that health n safety business.

@switch10

They are either really old cables or LV cables... should you really be taking responsibility for them?

And then they seriously wonder why those cables are still perfect today, when all the modern **** installed since about the 1980's is falling apart.. AMAZING craftsmanship, and lovely to see.. Thank you for posting this..

john..

 Whoa there!

i never said that!......you are there I am not.

I was merely stating the fact that the last time i saw something like that I was from a roof.

yours may well be from your cable...whereas the one i witnessed wasn't

just saying
Sorry fella Tony s was really begin to wind me up. I never once said it was the cables shown the pictures were just to show bitumen

It's on a large commercial site in which I do a lot of work, the customer just asked the question and I wasn't sure on dno reply because as far as I'm concerned if a cable is cracked then it is failing and will fail so therefore should not be left

Clearly you don't know what you're looking at so stop winding me up with useless pictures and show some pictures of the actual cables, preferably the terminations.

If the outer serving is tarred hessian the chances are they are PILC and will out live you. Tarred jute serving is a different matter.

My holistic helmet is away for recalibration.

Let me get this right .....England are out of the Euro Cup  so the Prime Minister Roy Hodgson  has resigned , throwing the Labour Party into confusion ,   Millions of Brits have just applied to be Referees  at the Eurovision Song Contest .

Good news however is,  the Welsh team , who are NOT headphone wearing millionaires with false exalted opinions of themselves and actually take pride in playing for their country, have supporters who don't bring shame upon their country,  are , against the odds , DOING REALLY WELL and are in the semi finals .

I am now trading on my Evans /Phillips heritage and am supporting Wales for the duration .   Nos Da cariad .

On the actual subject of dripping cables , I too would think further investigation is required as it usually means they are getting hot / overload/ loose connections. You've done all you can by highlighting it, involving the DNO etc.

I still have my leather handled/metal riveted hacking knife....along with my more recent insulated handle one!

sharpened up they are quite handy around the gareden. Mind you I had to break one out of retirement last week as the outer on a NEW SWA was a touch recalcitrant in giving up its grip on the armouring; but as ever there is only ONE winner

You are a serious idiot t be fair, I never once said it was from the cables it was too show the bitumen which dno confirmed was from the cable, now it's not on a joint or service head its on a bend in a cable that runs at height from dno fuse at approx 20ft in height and then runs for approx 35 metres before entering a customers.

In regards to you saying I don't know what I'm looking at makes me think your even more of a idiot than I first thought. Wind ya neck in because you are taking this a bit far because u presumed it was them cables when it was to show bitumen marks

To be fair I asked a question that I had confirmed by dno and posted on what is supposed to be a helpful forum. I did nothing wrong and simply posted some pictures of where bitumen is leaking down to be told in wasting his time.

how am i wasting his time. To be fair in sick of the site and won't be on it from today it's supposed to be a helpful site but there's to many people on here who have nothing better to do than try to make people look small and cause problems. Well I'm to busy and not interested so enjoy yourself.

can allready see how little this site is used by people compared to when I first joined, maybe admins need to look at the users such as the people who just drive people away like yourself

@switch10 take a look again at the first 10 posts. You did not post a link to the photos. Tony got your links (via PM?) and posted the photos. Neither of the photos showed the actual cables that were leaking. Seems a waste of time to show those photos really, everyone knows what bitumen looks like.

So to sum up?

You questioned a cable that is the responsibility of someone else, bearing in mind they have told you that they are happy with it, you produce pictures via a member which do not show the offending cables but merely some bitumen on different cables and then ask us electricians if we think the cable we can't see is safe?

May I suggest that you might produce evidence of the actual cable you are concerned about to give us half a chance of knowing what we are up against or you write a letter to your client along the lines of

'this cable is out of my remit and responsibility although I have sought guidance from those that are responsible for it and can only offer their response which they are satisfied the offending cable is safe'

For the record I will state that whilst I do not personally know those on here I can confirm that the knowledge and experience is vast and varied and those that have answered have done so to the best of their knowledge.
