Nah, not for me anyway at the moment, looked into something like this, my work was a bit special at the time and it was not worth it.

Would not recommend it at all. Last year I nearly went to work for a place that had become a member of BNI. They wanted me to 'develop' the business that came from it and go to the meetings and promote them. They went through the details and even said themselves it was a load of rubbish but they had paid their money and so wanted something back from it. It's mainly 1-man-bander's and this was a fairly big company. Wouldn't have worked at all. It's just an excuse for a free breakfast on a friday morning...

Joined a local group lately - I can see how this would work well if the right people are involved, but I'm very dubious about people I haven't used or worked with myself.

IF you want to go down that route kt, why not join the FSB? a lot better regarded than the BNI.

they do not like two of the same trade in their local group....

My wife is/was an accountant and did it for a while........total waste of time

only good thing to come out of it was the recommendation to join FSB

which she did and made alot of good contacts and did get quite few new clients

and a side note,,,,,,do not get involved in the 'Barter Card' scam

Load of ballcocks KT,y Every one wants you to join them , there just hangers -on TBH . Just stick with the ones that you have to join , Part P scammers, sod the rest , 'aint worth a light.

I am going to disagree with most people who have replied.

I was a BNI member for about 2 years, made some really good contacts that I still get regular work from and frankly made around 15 grand in the time I was involved, the chapter I was involved in was not all that big or, all that successful but I put a bit of effort in and did ok

I'm going to disagree with all the posts so far, I've been a member for 10 weeks and have had 16 jobs from it, most being continued work. (so probably more like 25 now)

i am a member of BNI, and it is great. The amount of work i get from it is huge....

well worth it...
