i can just imagine patch if there is a PDF version...Indeed.

You never seen Patch on full throttle then? He can search at 40 gigaflops per lifetime.Have you got any idea, how long it would take to scan in nearly 400 pages?Be quicker, just to open the book.
but if there was already a copy available, then if you already own the book, then legally you could have the electronic version, even if it was downloaded?Have you got any idea, how long it would take to scan in nearly 400 pages?Be quicker, just to open the book.
I disagree with you there. It's the protection of your intellectual property.Speaking as a musician rather than a spark I would have to say that copyright law - or at least the people who enforce it, has done little for me. It's geared towards making large amounts of cash for people who already have it.robbing the poor to feed the rich!
Thats the irony of labour now. They are so worried about upsetting someone they have changed their entire policy from what they stood for years ago. Maybe thats why they are called NEW labour.I thought it was Capitalism?
I disagree with you there. It's the protection of your intellectual property. Take the Doctor as an example. He spends time writing his book, getting pictures, proofing, printing etc. He will have invested a good chunk of money doing all the work, now he sells copies to make money back and hopefully generate some profit (like your businesses). Now if I could borrow a copy from the library (or have someone email me a PDF) and start producing my own version for

I guess thats a bit like the AD's being stamped with online version so people can't print them out and sell them.If you do buy a BS document in PDF form it is stamped on every page with your details that you enter when you buy it. It is your personalised copyrighted copy not for distribution regardless of what anyone else has. If the BSI wanted you to distribute the relevant BS to other people they wouldn't stamp it.
Ian, that seems perfectly reasonable. BUT from recent threads there is great demand for a digital copy and if I published the BRB I can see why distributing it on a CD/DVD would mean I potentially sold a lot less copies of my book, because people think it's ok to 'share it'.Of course its not fair but thats not what we are wanting to do here. We already own the BRB (as we have to) so we just want to access it in a different medium rather than on paper in the same way that most bluray movies now include a digital version for putting on your PC.
Not with the bloody subscription charges they charge.Ian, that seems perfectly reasonable. As I understand it the IET is run as a charity.
