My brother-in-law has moved into a new flat . His meter cupboard is just outside the front door and I have noticed a buzzing sound coming from within . I opened the door of the meter cupboard visually checked the meter leads and all seemed normal . what I did notice was the buzzing appears to be coming from the cut out itself . I have told him to get the DNO to check it out as Im thinking loose termination somewhere . the installation has recently been inspected due to the notice on the C U ( so polarity should be ok ) ? Any ideas or experiences on this topic ? :)

loose connection is a good suspect. this would not have been checked in the any inspection.

or it could be transformer, either for doorbell or in alarm panel etc

There is no economy seven on the premises . If the buzzing is coming from the cut out all I can think of is a loose termination . It's a T N C S by the way . :)

:_| I could ring my brother-in-law and tell him to press the cut out itself to see if that quietens things down . knowing him though he would tell me where to go as electricity is not his thing
only really works if the head its-self is slightly loose & vibrating. if its just the terminal inside, it wont make much difference.

is there any burning smell when there is a high load? best thing to do is call DNO on emergency number
