Right so all i need is co axial cable. The cable going to the aerial is normal co ax and im going to keep that in not replacing that.i was going to use. Are there any better co ax cables than others or for what i need do i just need basic?

usually give people RG59 no one's complained thus far. remember the better the cable the harder it will be to terminate in a shallow box.

You only have to do that if the amplifier requires a functional earth

My experience of loft aerials is not good

If you want an analogy......turn on your tv , look at the picture. Put a duvet cover over your head, look at picture again.

Can you see a difference?

Same with most loft aerials

IIRC don't they say that you loose 50% of the signal strength by putting an aerial in a loft?
