Right out of my comfort zone here! Running 21 x 16A pitches - what current supply would be needed. Gut feeling 200A - but does anyone have thoughts?

I've no experrence with high current single phase applications. What is the maximum current that can be provided by the supply authority?

The previous installation had 2 x 70mm SWA 2C cables in parallel joined up at the distribution boards through the site - total distance from meter of 300m end to end. Looks pretty future proof - but was the bloke thinking 3 phase?

Anyone got any thoughts?

Thanks

Dave

I worked on a holiday park for a Winter changing all the outlet points..... :( :(

They had 440 vans running from a 3 phase 400kVA transformer

The pitches?? were in blocks of 4 and were fed using 6mm 3 core SWA from a C50 MCB...

soon after the park was sold, pitches re-organised and completley rewired!!

Have no direct experience I can offer Dave....

But I do know our caravan VERY VERY rarely draws 16amps...

although technically there is a 6amp MCB working lights & fridge.

10amp working sockets..

most other bits GAS!?

There MUST be some organisation somewhere that has monitored typical Caravan demand.....

say for example.. although modern vans may have electric ovens..

Many people still like cooking on a Bar-B-Q

(summer evening, t-shirt shorts, beer Barby!BlushingB-) :D )

Tents aint going to draw much power.. few lights + fridge maybe?

Most of the lights in the caravan are 12v....

230v used to charge the batt! & keep 12v running.

Thanks for the quick replies - but I realize I've given the wrong impression here. This is more of a holiday home park - some people live there 11 months of the year. They would all have kettles, microwaves and washing machines - though heating would be

gas.

The owners point of view is that they would soon learn to deal with 16A max, my concern was more with the diversity.

Cheers

Dave

You are forgiven and pardoned Mr TheGlitz! Blushing:xApplaud Smiley

Statics - Vs - Touring vans.......

Static ain't ruddy caravans IMHO thought!]:) X(

Like I say, I've done the 9 month sites and do a bit on some 12 month sites...

The 9 month sites all had 10A MCB's they have gas cooking and heating... any of the larger ones that washing machines had a 16A MCB.. the 440 statics never pulled more than 400kVA!

The 12 month sites all tend to have 40A MCB's... these are double width statics which are more like a bungalow... don't know what these pull, but it is a much smaller site!!
