Hi everyone, ihave just joined the site in the hope some of you may be able to give me some guidance.

I have recently started a Refrigeration apprenticehip based in Manchester and have discovered that i have a strong desire to learn more about the electrical side of things, i realise that this will be covered to an extent by my College course but i would like to be able develop my knowledge prior to and beyond what the course will teach me. To this end i tried searching for a beginners electrical course around the Manchester area that i could do during the evenings but was unable to find anything suitable, i was unable to find anything really other than online courses which, although i am not totally against, i would prefer traditional face to face teaching.

Another option i am considering is that of a CD-ROM or something similar, i have had several interactive Spanish CD-ROMs in the past and have found them to be quite useful.

Like i say whatever i do i am very much a beginner and have no idea where exactly i should start, due to my Apprenticeship i am employed full time and am unable to attend any of the full time electrical courses offered by the colleges during the week days.

If anyone could point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it.

Andy

Welcome to the Forum Andy ( OOoooo thats about 1000 Andys now isn't it ?)

Anyway in answer to your question about elastictrickery , as you're busy with other courses.... two words....Library and /or tinternet . I rest my case .

salford do an evening class, but Im not sure if this is purely for electrical apprentices or not,

Im fairly sure there is one at Tameside too [Ashton/Oldham/Denton way I think] , but that may be an electrical app one too.

exactly what is it you would like to learn Andy.?

I don't have any qualifications other than 10 year old gcse’s so i would like to start with the basics, prior to starting this job about 5 months ago i couldnt wire a plug. Obviously I have improved a bit since then but would like to keep learning both at work and home
