Just a heads up/reminder

my scrappy man informed me that the changes come into force next week requiring photo id when cashing in

they also require a utility bill with your address on it...

Mine does that already. Photo driving licence and bill. I thought it was ok as just incase someone's taking stolen stuff in. Is it to do with the tax man?

nope

they are trying to cut down on the stolen metal,,,,,,BT,electric cables, manhole covers , lead from roofs etc

my place is thinking of taking photos of customers and vans just to make it easier

fair play

It's about time. It's not rocket science. If a guy comes in with a van load of man hole covers it's got to be suspicious.

A little inconvenient for the rest of us but thanks for the heads up. It would p**s me off if I drove 25 miles to the scrappie only to be told I need some ID, so better to be forewarned.

been like that round here since jan.

went to the scrapyard the first week of the year.... got an IOU from them... their cash hadnt arrived after the christmas hols.... good thing i know them well

There will always be somewhere that won't abide by the rules, though.

There might be a part of it. In the thing where the revenue are looking into sparks undeclared income from scrap sales was one issue mentioned. Would make it nice and easy to check you had declared everything.

Does any 1 know know about this waste permit that you need to carry I first heard about it from my napit inspector he asked if I had 1 I said no he says about

Cheers apache how many of u have these permits another cost unless u do this on a big time scale it makes weighing a waste of time and money we may as well throw it in the road and let the pikeys take the chance

If you are only carrying Off cuts etc. and NOT construction waste you do NOT need to register at the moment but you WILL after Dec 2013.

Hi All,

Makes you laugh, first sentence in their rules is you do not have to register unless you carry controlled waste, but then they have no definition of what this is.

They do have a list of what they consider "construction waste" which lists such items as old baths and the like, no mention of cable anywhere though..

Think of the MILLIONS or pounds that was wasted dreaming all that lot up.....They are all nuts...and then they seriously wonder why this country is slowly going bust......

What is the chance of their inspector going to gypsy camps and fining them......About as much chance as planning inspectors going to gypsy camps to enforce planning laws there.....Perhaps they could both go at the same time to "hold each others hands"

john...

If you 0nly carry cutoffs or non hazardous waste ie as a a sparky and not construction waste, then you will have to register as a lower tier carrier - this is free
