Been asked to do some wiring in a small catering trailer. Basically its got one flourescet light, 2x 2g socket outlets. The power is too come from a small generator (either 2 kva or 3.2kva) The client has a garage consumer unit with rcd and 2 mcb's that is going to be fitted. The cble is going to be mounted in pvc trunking. The work surfaces are metal.

I have 3 questions

What is the best cable to use for the interior of the trailer

Do the work surfaces require bonding

What, if any, cerificate do I issue.

Treat it like a caravan for wiring regs, i.e chassis MUST be bonded and wiring MUST be flex because of vibration.

Then take into account likely heat and grease, i.e metal sockets, protect cable from heat etc.

Personally I would bond the metal work surfaces.

Like any caravan installation, issue an EIC when complete.

I would love to know what the customer will do for an earth. Normally a caravan on a generator would use a tt earth, but if a catering trailer is parked in a lay by, I would love to see them bang an earth stake into the tarmac :)

generators never use TT earth....

its normally IT for smaller size, or TNS for larger (or you can mod a smaller IT to TNS)

adding a rod is sometimes required. but this does not make it TT
