Hi,

Not had anything to do with central heating before so was looking for some information from you knowledgable guys in the know.

Just been round with my plumber mate to a house where as soon as the boiler was switched on, it immediately locked out the boiler. It's a y plan.

What I done as he asked was to test none of the cables were going down to earth. The problem was with the cylinder stat. I believe the three cables going to cylinder stat was 1) live to stat 2) live out if satisfied 3) live out if calling for heat.

Red blue & yellow cables. The blue was showing 4M ohms to earth. When this wire was disconnected. The boiler started up and didn't lock out.

He's going to replace this tomorrow so hopefully that will sort the problem.

What I'm asking is. Did I do the fault finding correctly and how do you test each different component of the system.

Any info or links much appreciated.

Thanks for Reading

Cheers

Matt
