Hi I've rang the Nic twice about this after a differance of opinion with a friend. Both times the Nic gave me different answer.

Situation. Say for instance you add a socket to an existing ring main or install an extra light fitting to a circuit, the consumer unit is only 6months old is a duel Rcd but not to AMD3 would the modified circuit have to be installed on a new AMD3 board either by changing the whole thing or installing a separate board or is it fine to not change the board.

Would the situation change if you were to run a new circuit of the existing board.

The latest NICEIC email had exactly this question. The answerr was clear. No!

How can it be, over 6 months from when AMD 3 was mandatory, except the CU's these questions come up.

Am I the only mug that buys the BYB and reads up on the changes.....

Which has been discussed at length since about this time last year!

How can people say "its confusing"?

they only just found out about it because they showed their assessor that shiney new explosive plastic board that they fitted last week, and their copy or the regs req'd for assessment is still in its original packaging after arriving yesterday?

or it could be confusing if they get 2 answers from nicey

Do the NICEIC often ask you technical questions by email Essex1?

NICEIC- Hi Essex1, What are the two ways of determining PFC?

Essex1- No!
