I have trouble getting rid of decent stuff, keep saying " It'll come in somewhere" and I store it for another 5 years.

Wooden steps are fine , I've used them all my life but I don't need three sets these days .

Cupboard full of various MCBs , they'll come in one day .

Dumped a box of 6ft fluoro tubes , been there 10 years since I used that wholesaler.

It'll be the loft next , theres a whole vinyl collection up there , the first record I ever bought , can't throw them out , they'll come in one day. !!

The 3036 board is protected by an upfront 30ma rcd and there are 3 free ways in the board. Also i cant see anything wrong with using the existing 3036's, I would have split the tails and put in small a consumer if there were any problems, for example no rcd protection.

Cheers

soulman, rip that carp old board out, and replace it with a nice shiney new 1, the install will be alot safer. and youll sleep at night knowinfg the installation meets regs.

Yep ! As far as I know as long as you achieve Disc.Times and add an RCD somewhere I think you could still go with a 3036 board. Highly unlikely though. Customer a couple of years back told the builder he wanted a BS3036 board fitting as thats what we have on the Railways . No intention of fitting one as it wanted to be a split load anyway but made the enquiry at the wholesalers.... no...could'nt source one anywhere.
Here you go, Wylex Standard Series Consumer Units from Shop4 Electrical No excuses now !

hi, ChapsI need to install a cooker 3.2kw & a hob 6.0kw. I was going to install the hob on 6mm 30a 3036 fuse and install the hob on 2.5mm and a 15a 3036 fuse to feed a 20a d.p switch or 13a fcu.

Someone suggested to use the 6mm cable 30a 3036 fuse to feed both using a unswitched f.c.u for the hob

any advice appreciated

The retrofit MCBs for old wylex boards are 60898s with 3kA breaking capacity

I'd push for a new board as one RCD is not ideal.

I'd also use a retrofit 32A MCB if client didn't want an upgrade.

Dual accessory box, cooker outlet plate and unswitched fused spur......jobs a gud un!
No i would put a switched fused spur next to the cooker switch for the cooker connected to a cooker outlet so you dont have to pull the cooker out to change the fuse.
